Dr Leanne Short
Senior Educational
Psychologist and Director

 

Leanne worked as an Educational Psychologist for Liverpool City Council for 5 years after completing her Doctorate at Newcastle University. Prior to this, Leanne completed a Masters Degree in Mental Health Practice at Manchester University and worked with Wigan Specialist Eating Disorders Clinic.

During her three-year undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool, Leanne worked with families home educating their children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition and co-morbid difficulties.

Leanne has worked as an Independent Educational Psychologist since 2015 supporting families and schools across the North West of England. Having built a reputation amongst many SEND communities, Leanne founded Aroa in July 2022, forming a team of EPs to provide exceptional psychological services across England and North Wales.

miss Olivia warwick-Bower Assistant Educational Psychologist

Olivia achieved a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with honours in Educational Psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2022. During this time, she worked closely within a team of SEND Coordinators (SENDCo) in schools and in Early Years settings, before working as a Learning Support Assistant in a Special Secondary School. Along with her experience across all age-ranges and school provisions, Olivia has training in safeguarding that specialises in indicators of abuse, statistics, and domestic abuse, as well as training in literacy difficulties, Autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance and emotions as an alternative to diagnosis.

As of 2023, Olivia has worked with Aroa as an Assistant Educational Psychologist to support schools across the North West of England. Since joining the team, Olivia has developed a trusting and reputable relationship with schools across the district and is now the designated Educational Psychologist for one of the largest Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) across Wirral.

Rachel Cartin

Rachel studied her undergraduate degree in Psychology with Professional Placement at Queen’s University, Belfast, spending her placement year working in a specialist school for children and young people with autism. This experience further ignited her passion into learning and how to support those with SEND thrive, both in school and beyond.

In 2021, Rachel moved to the northwest of England and completed her Masters in Psychology of Education at the University of Manchester.

Rachel’s experience has always been child-centred which has included working in various educational settings such as nurseries, mainstream secondary schools and specialist provisions. Rachel now works across our Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) supporting children, staff and families.

Rachel has completed additional training in the Zones of Regulation, Autism and Using Visual Strategies, Counsellor training with Childline, and has Advanced Level 2 training in Safeguarding Children.

mrs Lindsey Davies
Executive Operations manager

 

Lindsey spent 21 years in the airline industry before moving into medical administration, initially within a private hospital setting prior to her current role. The airline industry provided a great background for developing a number of core and complementary skills that now complement the work Lindsey does for Aroa Educational Psychology Services in the role of Personal Assistant.

Front and centre of these are strong interpersonal skills. An ability to deal with complex and multiple situations with an empathetic understanding enable Lindsey to deliver care and service that put Aroa Educational Psychology Services as a best-in-class provider. As a first point of contact for many, Lindsey understands and represents the business in a way that creates a level of comfort and understanding that all needs will be dealt with to the highest of standards.

Mrs Elizabeth Snell
Executive Assistant

 

Liz was a CIPD qualified HR Adviser for 10 years after gaining an International Business Management degree at Northumbria University. After returning to education to complete an A-Level in Creative Writing, Liz has worked as a freelance Copywriter and Editor for Yorkshire based magazines and charities.
